Eastern Sussex Democrats will meet at 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m., with a buffet dinner before the presentation. The cost is $25 per person for ESD members and $30 for nonmembers. Attendees can pay at the door or pay in advance at easternsussexdemocrats.com.

Featured guest speakers will be Sherry Dorsey Walker, D-Wilmington, candidate for lieutenant governor; Tom Brett, candidate for state representative in District 41, which includes Dagsboro, Frankford and Millsboro; and Gregg Lindner, candidate for state representative in District 4, which covers Long Neck and Millsboro.

Dorsey Walker represents District 3 in the state Legislature. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in the implementation of legislation requiring body cameras for police officers, creating equity and inclusion for procurement opportunities for people of color, making it possible for Black-owned financial institutions to establish in Delaware, creating a compact with other states enabling spouses of veterans to be certified as school counselors and educators to address staffing shortages, and enabling same-day voter registration.

Brett, a Millsboro resident, is driven to provide visionary leadership to the 41st District. His top priorities include support for women and families, quality education, renewable energy and responsible growth. With his background as a senior business leader, advocate and U.S. Army veteran, Brett is equipped to engage with constituents, stakeholders and fellow legislators to enhance the lives and futures of all Delawareans.

Lindner recently retired as executive chairman of a large media and marketing company. He has held elected office and served in a variety of work and volunteer organizations. He is focused on issues related to sustainable growth, affordable workforce housing, healthcare availability in Sussex County, and protecting woman’s healthcare and reproductive rights.
