Easterseals to host free caregiver conference Aug. 24-26

July 26, 2021

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the Delaware Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities will host the 11th annual Easterseals Caregiver Conference, a free virtual event, from Tuesday to Thursday, Aug. 24 to 26.

With the generous support of Highmark Delaware, Easterseals’ keynote speaker for the conference will be Breeda Miller. She has used her professional experience serving clients in healthcare organizations, corporations, academic institutions and nonprofit communities, as well as her personal experience as a caregiver for her mother to inform her presentations about self-care for caregivers. Through the power of story, audience interaction and warm-hearted humor, Miller presents strategies that make a difference.

To register, call 302-221-2087 or go to easterseals.com.

The theme of this year’s virtual event is Take A Break, Before You Break. The topics are pertinent for caregivers caring for loved ones of all ages, but each day features a different focus. Caregivers will be able to connect with and learn from other caregivers each day through a virtual lunchtime chat and chew. Caregivers are invited to register for this free conference.

“We are excited for this year’s Caregiver Conference that puts the attention on the caregiver. So much of caregivers’ focus is on their loved one. The conference is a nice way to turn that focus toward the caregiver to make sure they have the tools they need,” said Kenan Sklenar, Easterseals president/CEO. “Easterseals is proud to be able to use innovative ways to offer this important conference virtually for families who do the great work of caring for their loved ones every day.”

The Caregiver Conference is one example of the ongoing partnership between Easterseals and DSAAPD to address the growing needs of Delaware caregivers. The Easterseals Community Outreach Program offers resources and support to caregivers through its many programs, including the Caregiver Resource Center, Lifespan Respite grants, FYI Assistive Technology Financing program and the assistive technology demonstration center.
