Edge of Land exhibit to open at Gallery 50 June 27

Gallery 50 announced Edge of Land, an exhibit of works by Maryland-based artist Stephen Estrada, will open with a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday June 27, at 50A Wilmington Ave., Rehoboth Beach. The show continues through Wednesday, July 16.

After a career in the museum field, Estrada returned to the studio full time in 2013. He began painting ocean scenes after volunteering on reconstruction projects following hurricanes Katrina and Michael.

“The beauty and awesome power of nature have a profound influence on my art. My paintings reflect my long connection to the Chesapeake region,” said Estrada. “I work in the studio from sketches, memory, ocean swimming, and exploring the Delaware beaches and Maryland shore. For me, the sea and coastal lands evoke a sense of awe that I hope to convey in my paintings.”
