Edward Lawrence Cooper, former antiques dealer

Edward Lawrence Cooper, 58, of Millsboro passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019, at home with his family in Millsboro. He was born Oct. 5, 1961, in Yonkers, N.Y., son of the late Lawrence Arons and Merle (Pate) Cooper.

Edward was employed by the Greenwich, Conn. Highway Department as a mechanic. He was also employed for O&G Construction Company of Connecticut. His greatest joy was owning and operating Past Tense Antiques with his partner Lucy in Beacon, N.Y. Edward’s customers were like friends who he remembered fondly. He built and restored cars in his spare time and loved riding his Harley-Davidson. He was captain of the J.J.H.S. Hockey Team in Fishkill, N.Y., and also a member of the Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Men’s Hockey League, skating throughout New York and Canada. Edward was a great lover of nature and animals. His rescued furry companions are Isabella Grace and Mia. As he travels on this new journey, Maggie Girl will be at his side. 

  Mr. Cooper is survived by his life partner, Lucille M. Valentino of Millsboro, formerly of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; his son, Sgt. Mathew Cooper (Amy) of Salisbury, Md.; his stepdaughters: Nicole Valentino of Orlando, Fla., and Camille Valentino of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren: William Cooper of Salisbury and Sylas Cooper of Salisbury; his sister, Laura Cooper-Elm (John) of Crested Butte, Colo.; his brother, Michael Cooper (Mary) of Trumbull, Conn.; his nephew, Jacob Cooper of Trumbull; his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his best friends, whom he considered his brothers: Anthony D'Renza of Wappingers Falls, and Mayor Matt Alexander of Wappingers Falls. Mr. Cooper is also survived by his extended family: his brothers-in-law: Ron DeSantis (Donna LaVolsi), Fred Mastriacovo (Irene), and Warren DeSantis (Victoria); his nephew, Danial DeSantis (Matt Alvo); and his niece, Rebecca Keys (Rob).

A Memorial Service will be held in the spring in Wappingers Falls.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
