Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Leonard, Esskay retiree

Elizabeth “Betty” Beverly Allen Leonard, 84, of Seaford, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Methodist Manor House, Seaford.

She was born in Wilmington, Dec. 24, 1927, daughter of the late Linden and Bessie Mae Barber Allen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Ronald Leonard in 1994 and her brother Robert A. Allen.

Mrs. Leonard retired in 1986 after 30 years service with the Esskay Packing Company of Baltimore, Md. She loved to crochet, knit, play cards and go to the beach.

She is survived by a brother, Charles L. Allen of Alaska; four sisters, Barbara J. Hitch and husband David of Seaford, Mary Lee Smolko of Dundalk, Md., Peggy Elzey of Bend, Ore. And Patricia Ann Taylor of Seaford; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 31, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow the services at Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
