Elizabeth Fischer Mayer, Silk and Sands employee

Elizabeth Fischer Mayer, 95, of Lewes passed away Friday, March 13, 2020, at her late residence. She was born July 17, 1924, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Karl Fischer and Freda Trockenbrot Fischer.  She was predeceased by her husband Harold E. Mayer in 1982.

She was a 1945 graduate of Hood College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in art and chemistry. Her grandfather was the proprietor of the former Trockenbrot Jewelers of Baltimore. She is the last of his grandchildren. For many years she worked in the auto sales industry as an office manager. Later on in years she had worked for the former Silk and Sands Florist.

Mrs. Mayer was a member of the Lewes Presbyterian Church where she put her talents to use quilting and creating handbags for the church Heavenly Handbag Fund which was used for a variety of church projects.

She is survived by her son David Mayer of Millsboro; her daughter Marcy Miller (Roy) of Palmyra, Pa.; three grandsons: Greg Kline of Centreville, Va., Paul Kline (Kristen) of Rockdale, Texas, and Tony Kline (Kelly) of Georgetown; and two great-granddaughters: Sophie Jo Kline and Lydia Elizabeth Kline. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Miller (Steve) and Greg Miller (LeeAnn) and great-grandchildren: Delaney,  Reagan and Remington.

A viewing will be held Friday, March 20, from 3 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
