Enjoying safari rides in South Africa with the Cape Gazette

January 18, 2023

In October, five households from the Retreat at Love Creek community traveled to Kruger National Park in South Africa. The group stayed at two game reserves, where they enjoyed 10 different safari rides. They were lucky to see all of the Big Five game animals, including an untouched skeleton of an elephant that had died of old age, and the cycle of life, where lions had killed a buffalo and after they were finished feasting, the hyenas and the vultures had their turn. They even saw a standoff between a herd of buffalo and several lions! The trip was fun, educational, and very fascinating for 8-year-old Jack, who celebrated his birthday with some pretty cool animals. Along for the fun are Sherry Berman and Deb Hamilton, Scott Egler and Dennis Winstead, John and Nancy Zimmerman, Sheena Hall, her daughter Bronwynn Hall Bokulich, her grandson Jack Bokulich and her brother and sister-in-law Trevor and Mandy Voss of Cape Town, South Africa, and Pam Ruffing and her son Alex Ruffing.
