Expo to highlight aviation past, present and future March 26

March 18, 2026

Delaware State University, in partnership with regional aviation, education and community stakeholders, will host the 2026 Tuskegee Airmen Commemoration Day Celebration and Aviation Expo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, March 26, at the Dr. William B. DeLauder Theatre in the Education & Humanities Building on its Dover campus.

The free public event honors the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen while recognizing the present and inspiring the future aviators of America. It advances Delaware State University's national leadership in aviation education, workforce development and STEM access for underrepresented populations. It also connects K–12 students, aviation scholars, industry professionals, military leaders and community organizations.

A central feature of the 2026 celebration will be a screening of the acclaimed film “Red Tails,” followed by a moderated aviation and leadership forum featuring: aviation and aerospace industry executives, Delaware State University aviation faculty and student leaders, military aviation professionals and commanders, and invited cast members and aviation historians (pending confirmation).

The discussion will connect historical excellence and the achievements of the Tuskegee Airmen to modern aviation career pathways, workforce readiness, leadership development and the ongoing role of HBCUs in aviation education.

Attendees will be able to meet with industry professionals and organizations offering insights into aviation, engineering and aerospace technology careers; engage in interactive workshops and view static aircraft displays; and enjoy hands-on experiences in flight simulation, drone technology and sustainable aviation fuels that highlight the industry's future.

Historical exhibits and guest speakers including representatives of the John H. Porter-First State Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Inc. will honor the Tuskegee Airmen's contributions while showcasing Delaware's rich aviation heritage.
