Fay Jacobs to perform ‘Still Aging Gracelessly’ April 10
Back for one show only, after the two-year COVID lockdown, humorist Fay Jacobs will perform her one-woman show, “Still Aging Gracelessly: 50 Shades of Fay,” for a single local performance at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 10, at CAMP Rehoboth Community Center in Rehoboth Beach.
Since the show’s premiere in 2015, hundreds of locals and visitors have enjoyed the show at a dozen local performances at CAMP Rehoboth, the Milton Theatre, MCC Rehoboth and more. Jacobs has not performed locally since 2019 and the show has new, laugh-out-loud material reflecting lockdown and tales of the writer aging gracelessly.
“I broke into show biz at an age where I’d more likely break a hip, so losing two years in my new ‘career’ was significant. I mean, life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes,” said Jacobs.
The show is a hilarious and heartfelt oral memoir, based in large part on her writing for Letters from CAMP Rehoboth – where she was an award-winning columnist for 26 years. Jacobs has toured with this show up and down the East Coast, aboard an Olivia cruise, and at the legendary Duplex Cabaret on Christopher Street in New York’s Greenwich Village.
The show features the moving story of the LGBTQ fight for equality, plus some outrageous stories and lots of local color.
At its core, the show highlights the author’s insistence that nothing is ever so horrible if it’s worth the story one can tell. The show has Jacobs’ signature humor and relatable stories for everyone about life, liberty and the aging process.
