Field hockey state champs honored at pep rally

November 23, 2017

The 2017 DIAA state champion field hockey team was honored in a schoolwide pep rally Nov. 21 in the Vikings’ gymnasium. The Cape drumline serenaded the students as they walked into the gym. The Cape Chorale sang the national anthem, and then Assistant Principal Mike Dmiterchik took the microphone as the pep rally emcee. He introduced the 2017 state champs and named the all-conference and all-state recipients. Other sports all-conference picks were introduced to the student body.

After the all-conference recognition was over, members of the Cape staff challenged the champs to a 10-minute floor hockey contest. The team won the DIAA state championship, but the staff got the better of them with a 2-1 score at the pep rally.
