Film to document veterans’ journey of hope and healing Nov. 14

October 17, 2018

Beebe Healthcare’s Population Health, in partnership with Delaware Technical Community College, will offer a screening of the Emmy-nominated documentary, “Almost Sunrise,” at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Georgetown. The film is an epic story of two Iraq war veterans and their incredible journey of hope and healing. The film will begin at 6 p.m., with a panel discussion immediately following. The Veterans Resource Room is directly across from the theater entrance. Light refreshments will be served.

Highlighted in the latter part of the film are Project Welcome Home Troops workshops. These power breath meditation workshops transform lives, restoring well-being and mental focus, along with a renewed sense of connection and purpose.

Research shows that veterans and military members can get relief from chronic and traumatic stress using scientifically backed breath-based meditation techniques. These powerful techniques address the root of the extreme stress of military life including multiple deployments, traumatic events, and reintegration with family and community. A specific set of unique breathing techniques can be practiced on one’s own after a few sessions of guidance.

The first Sussex County five-day workshop is scheduled for Wednesday to Saturday, Dec. 12 to 16, with details on location and times coming soon. To donate to support this offering, which is free to veterans and their immediate family members, go www.beebemedicalfoundation.org/projectwelcomehome/.
