Dewey Beach event nets $1,400 donation

More than 100 Firefly fans recently flocked to Dewey Beach for the first Winterfly: Firefly Family Reunion event to celebrate a love for music and the community.
Between tours of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton and events at party houses the Starboard restaurant, the fans took part in an auction to raise money for Sussex Academy's music program.
Jesse Berdinka, one of the event's organizers, said the group raised more than $1,400 for the school. Auction items included donations from Firefly Music Festival, the Dewey Hyatt, iDewey.com, Dogfish Head Brewery, FishPlanx and more.
Berdinka said Winterfly will come back next year, and expects the event to be ever larger.
