Nakeisha Holliman-Redmond received the Personal Achievement Award. With help from First State's Case Management program, Holliman-Redmond went from a low-paying waitress job to support her two children, to making a living wage as a medical technician. She had a degree from Kaplan University and its family resource coordinator and was referred to the Dept. of Labor and now makes a living wage in New Jersey. Discover Bank was presented with the Community Partners Award. Discover Bank has provided support in 2013 by granting First State with $15,000 to the Community Loan Fund to support its technical assistance for small businesses and $125,000 to Community Investment Corporation to support its expansion throughout the Delaware region. First State Community Action Agency held its 50th Anniversary celebration at its annual dinner and awards ceremony Monday, Nov. 16 at Dover Downs. First State CAA honored the founders, champions, partners and supporters who have aided the agency for 50 years.
