First Watch coming to former Bob Evans space
The former Bob Evans restaurant space in Midway will soon be home to First Watch, a breakfast, lunch and brunch chain with several locations in upstate Delaware, southern New Jersey and Maryland.
According to First Watch spokesperson Mackenzie Garrett, the Lewes location is expected to open this December. It will be about 4,700 square feet, with more than 130 seats, and will feature a covered patio and an interior bar.
Garrett said they usually start hiring for a new restaurant about one month out from opening. The Lewes restaurant is expected to create 30 new jobs in the community and will operate one shift per day with operating hours of 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Garrett said the company’s approach of no night shifts enables its team to enjoy their evenings.
“Upon opening, the Lewes restaurant will feature our core First Watch menu, which takes an elevated approach to traditional breakfast, brunch and lunch offerings,” Garrett said. “All dishes are made to order using fresh ingredients in a kitchen without heat lamps, microwaves or deep fryers. Fan favorites include avocado toast, lemon ricotta pancakes and million-dollar bacon.”
Five times a year, First Watch offers a revolving seasonal menu that follows the position of the sun to source fresh ingredients, Garrett said. Lewes is expected to start serving its first seasonal menu in 2026.
