Floating sound baths kick off June 10 in Dewey

June 2, 2024

Local paddleboard and kayaking outfitter Delmarva Board Sports has teamed up with Lauren Fonvielle, integrative energy practitioner, to offer three floating sound bath events this summer on Rehoboth Bay.

A sound bath is a deeply immersive, full-body listening experience that evokes a gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to nurture mind, body and spirit.

The experience begins with each person lying or sitting on a paddleboard or in a kayak (choose when booking) that’s anchored to a line in the bay. After a few minutes of guided focus on one’s breath, the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by crystal singing bowls, chimes and a rain stick.

The events will be held from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m., Mondays, June 10, July 8 and Aug. 12, behind the Bay Resort Waterfront Hotel, 135 Dagsworthy Ave., Dewey Beach.

The cost is $72 per person and includes an 80-minute SUP board rental, 50-minute floating sound bath, anchor lines, safety equipment, assistance on and off the water, gratuities and photos.
