Food Bank of Delaware hosts MLK day of service
The Food Bank of Delaware in Milford hosted groups of volunteers Jan. 19, as part of a day of service for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The volunteers packed meal kits as part of the food bank’s weekend meal program for kids, also known as the Backpack Program. More than 8,000 children throughout Delaware will receive one of the meal kits, which will be distributed in more than 200 schools, childcares and daycares each week.
Ryan Mavity covers Milton and the court system. He is married to Rachel Swick Mavity and has two kids, Alex and Jane. Ryan started with the Cape Gazette all the way back in February 2007, previously covering the City of Rehoboth Beach. A native of Easton, Md. and graduate of Towson University, Ryan enjoys watching the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles in his spare time.
