Fork+Flask's Fifer Farm Dinner set in the orchard Sept. 22
While farm-to-table dining may be popular with today's restaurant diners, Fork+Flask @ Nage has elevated the concept by inviting guests to enjoy farm-fresh dining that's actually served down on the farm.
"It's the event our guests ask for every year," says Executive Chef Sean Corea, noting that Friday, Sept. 22, will mark the ninth year for the restaurant's annual Fifer Farm Dinner featuring the culinary prowess of Rehoboth's award-winning Fork+Flask coastal kitchen team.
The entire three-course meal is served outdoors under the stars surrounded by Fifer's beautiful apple orchards in Camden-Wyoming. "It makes for a memorable night to be shared with friends," notes Corea. "You just can't get any closer to nature." And what if it rains? "No worries, we've got you covered!"
The custom menu is designed to showcase some of the best ingredients from Delmarva's rich farmlands, including Fifer Farms' famous fruits and vegetables. "We're using Fifer's famous apples in our recipes for both dinner and hors d'oeuvres for the cocktail reception prior to dinner," says Fork+Flask Chef Matt Reardon.
"We always enjoy welcoming Fork+Flask's guests," says Fifer Farms Manager Mike Fennemore. Of the various dining events at the family's farm, he says this Fork+Flask function is the only one hosted within the orchard grounds. "The Fork+Flask guests have such an appreciation for innovative foods, especially when they can see firsthand how much effort goes into farming. It's a very real experience," says Fennemore.
The Fork+Flask team promises this year's dinner will be an evening full of enjoyment for their guests - a cocktail party with four distinctive passed hors d'oeuvres, refreshing summer wines and craft beer by Crooked Hammock Brewery; live music and tractor chauffeured farm tours are also part of the fun. The three-course sit-down dinner also includes homemade desserts from Fork+Flask's Sweet Spot Pastry Chef Dru Tevis.
