The Freeman Stage announced its 2019 lineup March 12, and headliners include Diana Ross, The Steve Miller Band, Lyle Lovett and Boz Skaggs.

“The Freeman Stage’s 2019 season is representative of our mission,” said Freeman Stage Executive Director Patti Grimes, speaking before a full house at the Cove Bar and Grill in Selbyville. “The diversity of genres we are presenting provides the opportunity for all to enjoy a variety of arts performances all summer long. We are grateful to have the support of the community to provide arts programming that is accessible for all.”

Celebrating its 12th season, more than 60 performances are booked this year, including dance, theater, children’s performances and live music.

Headlining performances include The Mavericks, Boz Scaggs, Josh Turner, Diana Ross, The Marcus King Band, Buddy Guy, Blues Traveler with special guest G. Love, Ben Folds, Violent Femmes, Steve Miller Band, Gavin DeGraw, Lyle Lovett and his Large Band, comedian Jim Gaffigan and The Beach Boys.

High-quality local performances from the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, First State Ballet and Clear Space Theatre Company are scheduled, and Locals Under the Lights, where local artists have their moment in the spotlight, will also be back this summer, as will the annual Arts in Jazz Festival.

Additional performances include The Fab Four, The Tamburitzans, Kat Edmonson, Kaia Kater, dancer Paige Hernandez, ABBA: The Concert, Master of Soul:  a Motown tribute, and more.

Michelle Freeman, president and CEO of the Carl M. Freeman Companies, said acts are still being booked, and there will be a second event at 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, at Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats to announce them. A portion of all proceeds that night will be donated to The Freeman Stage.

Stay tuned for more, said Freeman, adding there would also be more details soon on a Freeman Stage expansion project.

The Freeman Stage is a program of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation that receives a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m., Monday, April 1. For more information on this season’s events, a full list of performers or to find out how to volunteer at The Freeman Stage, 31750 Lake View Drive, Selbyville, call 302-436-3015 or go to www.freemanstage.org.
