Freeman Valor Awards to honor first responders Feb. 22

February 13, 2019

The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce will honor the outstanding police officers, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and firefighters who help keep local communities safe throughout the year at a luncheon from 12 to 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, at the Cove Bar and Grill in Selbyville.

The 2019 Joshua M. Freeman Valor Awards, presented by the Carl M. Freeman Companies, will recognize first responders’ service and dedication to the community. Representatives of local towns and public safety organizations, government officials, and the chamber and its members will gather to honor members of area fire companies and police departments.

Each local department will recognize one of its members for outstanding service in the past year. One of these nominees will be awarded the top honor of the annual Joshua M. Freeman Valor Award, which was renamed 10 years ago in memory of the late developer and philanthropist Joshua M. Freeman.

“We are honored to recognize the outstanding men and women of the local law enforcement, fire departments and emergency medical services,” said Lauren Weaver, chamber executive director. “These individuals work to protect not only our citizens, but they ensure the safety of our visitors as well, and it is a privilege to organize this event recognizing their hard work and dedication.”

Local community members are invited to attend for $25. Tickets for the general public will be limited, as a majority of seating is reserved for department chiefs, honorees, guests of awardees, and dignitaries.
