It appears Friendly’s on Route 1 near Rehoboth is now hiring – and this time it’s for real.
The local restaurant of the nationwide chain closed its doors in July 2021 without any explanation. “Now Hiring” was still on its sign board facing Route 1 when it closed. There have been construction vehicles on site for weeks now and the dining room is under construction. The person inside the restaurant May 19 said he was not the person to speak with on the details about the restaurant.
It’s not exactly clear when the restaurant will open, but its Facebook page has a posting from May 8 wishing moms around the world a great Mother’s Day.
“See ya soon!” the message says.
If the Rehoboth Friendly’s does reopen, it will be the only one in Sussex County. The next closest is in Dover.
The hours of operation for Friendly’s, 19022 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth, are not yet available. For more information call 302-645-1779.
