Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park annual meeting set March 7

February 17, 2020

The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park will conduct its annual meeting at 9 a.m., Saturday, March 7, in the park at Youth Camp No. 3, also known as the Officers Club.

At the annual meeting, Friends volunteers gather to reflect on their activities for the past year, welcome new Friends members and hold elections for any board slots that have become vacant.

People who are interested in serving are encouraged to get in touch to ensure their names are on the ballot. To express interest, email FOCHSP@gmail.com or call 302-858-6127.

This is an open meeting. Everyone is welcome. There will be free coffee and donuts, and plenty of time to mingle with old friends and make new ones before the organized part of the program begins. Friends volunteers will also be selling merchandise – Friends signature shirts and hats – and discussing their activities and volunteer opportunities for the coming year. Only members may vote for officers, but attendees can join the organization or renew membership at the meeting.

Presentations will begin at 9:30 with an update on activities from park staff, followed by a presentation by guest speaker Nivette M. Perez-Perez, communications specialist with the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays.

The election will follow the presentations.

The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park, founded almost 20 years ago, is made up of people who value the beauty and heritage of Cape Henlopen State Park, and have joined together to provide the park with tangible support in a variety of ways. The Friends is a private, nonprofit, member-supported, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to promote the protection and wise management of the diverse resources within the park.
