Fully Belly Bistro owner Andrew Dulaney is determined to do his part to make up for milestones high school students are missing due to COVID-19.

“I went to Cape, but I had to drop out in 10th grade because my mom and I were extremely poor, and I had to go to work,” Dulaney said. “I didn’t get to go to prom or graduation. These kids have worked the last four years and have no prom and no graduation, and it’s just not fair.”

To help ease the blow, Dulaney has offered free dinners to local students on Saturday, May 9 - the night Cape High students would have dressed in tuxes and gowns, hair coiffed and styled, to dance and enjoy time with friends at the annual school promenade.

Dulaney said students can call ahead at 302-645-6211 to place their order and state they are students while ordering. At curbside pickup, students just need to present their school IDs when picking up their meals. Dulaney noted the restaurant will be closed to the general public.

“I’ve built my business as a community-based restaurant, and I am worried about what’s affecting the people where I live,” Dulaney said. “This is the least I could do.”
