Gallo Gives Foundation presents community donations

As part of its continual effort to make a difference in the communities where its associates live and serve, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty’s Gallo Gives Foundation made donations to area nonprofits totaling $12,000 during its most recent giving campaign.

The Food Bank of Delaware was given $2,200 to support the distribution of nutritious items for people in need through its statewide network of partners. The Food Bank also helps individuals and families gain long-term financial stability by providing job training, nutrition education, financial coaching, SNAP outreach and legislative advocacy.

Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth received $2,200. Its 160 volunteers serve 300 clients in the area, delivering meals each day to those who need them most. Volunteers cover 17 delivery routes to ensure clients receive a hot meal every afternoon, along with daily social contact that is essential for emotional well-being.

Unique Minds Changing Lives was awarded $2,200. Established in 2022, the local nonprofit is committed to restoring, educating and stabilizing low-income individuals and families throughout Sussex County. It provides educational training, work experience opportunities, emergency assistance and financial literacy programs to promote long-term self-sufficiency. The organization also focuses on youth mentoring to reduce juvenile crime and substance use, while offering classes in job readiness, self-esteem building, anger management, parenting skills and credit repair. Its comprehensive support services and disaster relief empower individuals and families to overcome challenges and build stronger futures.

The Community Resource Center, a volunteer-driven organization in Rehoboth Beach, received $2,200. Working from a centralized location, CRC assists low-income individuals and families in times of need.

Love INC of Mid-Delmarva was awarded $2,200. Serving residents facing challenges such as homelessness, food insecurity and utility service loss, Love INC volunteers partner with local churches to help transform lives and strengthen communities by providing economic, social and spiritual support.

The Lewes Public Library received $1,000 in support of its programs for all ages that encourage a love of reading, exploration and discovery. 

The Gallo Gives Foundation is a charitable arm of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty that is managed by the Greater Lewes Foundation. Most of the funds are contributed by the agents and staff of PenFed Realty, and the company matches all contributions 100%. Established in 2016 by the original owners of the real estate firm, the Gallo Gives Foundation has donated more than $340,000 to local and worldwide charitable organizations.
