Gary Lee Stevenson Sr., great handyman

February 13, 2021

“Some people come in our life as blessings.  Some come in your life as lessons.” - Mother Teresa

Gary Lee Stevenson Sr., 55, of Marshallton passed away peacefully surrounded by his brothers Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021.  Gary was in the care of his brother David and his sister-in-law Esther in Dewey Beach at the time of his death.  Gary was the son of the late John S. and Mildred M. (Pennington) Stevenson.

Gary was employed by Ralph Moffet Heating & Air Conditioning for 12 years and worked with the Asbestos Workers Local 42 following in his father’s and brothers’ footsteps.  Gary was a friendly guy and a great handyman - he could fix anything.  He enjoyed spending a great deal of time with his friend and mentor, Bob McDannell, and would assist him with any and all projects going on around Bob’s house.  Bob and Phyllis McDannell were a constant in Gary’s life, and we thank them for being there when Gary needed them most.

Gary is survived by his son, Gary Lee Jr. and his son’s mother, Connie Lawson; his brothers: Jack (Linda), and David (Esther); his sisters: Sandra Nowakowski (Ted), Nancy; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Joey Recinski and Jimmy Hailstone for their lifelong friendship and extend their heartfelt appreciation to Karen James who was a wonderful support system during Gary’s time of need with medical appointments and treatments; Marshallton United Methodist Church for your outreach and support when needed most; and Delaware Hospice for your compassion and care in the end.

All services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Stevenson's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
