The Gazette tours Eastern Europe

April 28, 2017

Susan Sullivan of Lewes and Eileen Nixon of Rehoboth Beach read their Cape Gazette in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin while on a 3 week trip to Eastern Europe this past fall.

Their trip began in Budapest where they enjoyed a dinner cruise and famous hot springs baths. Vienna was the next stop with a visit to an opera, a ride on the giant ferris wheel, sacher torte at the Hotel Sacher and a rousing evening of music and wine at Heuriger.

The next stop was Prague and the stunning city of Krakow with its Fall Festival in full swing. They enjoyed the restoration of Warsaw and its history. Also, they visited Auschwitz and Birkenau which was emotional when viewed first hand.

In the sophisticated city of Berlin, the last stop, both East and West were enjoyed. For Eileen it was a return visit to all but Poland; she spent junior year in college at the University of Vienna.

Susan and Eileen had an amazing and memorable trip and thoroughly enjoyed their favorite paper along the way.
