George Walter Bauer, lifelong learner, teacher
George Walter Bauer, 78, passed away peacefully at home in Rehoboth Beach Saturday, July 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born Jan. 18, 1947, in Paterson, N.J., George was the son of the late Robert and Elsie Flora (Beltz) Bauer.
A lifelong learner, George earned his master’s degree and went on to dedicate his career to teaching, a role in which he inspired many young minds. George was a man of many passions. He loved to travel and cherished time spent outdoors hiking and biking. Known for his warm sense of humor and easygoing nature, he was often found in the company of friends playing cards or board games, always with a bag of his favorite cheese curls nearby. He also enjoyed watching movies and finding joy in life’s simple pleasures.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his longtime partner, Ronald White of Rehoboth Beach; and his younger brother, William Bauer of Colorado. He is survived by his loving sisters, Janice Chadwick of Colorado, Diane Smith (Boyd) of South Carolina, and Christine Baker of Pennsylvania; his stepbrother, Ronald Bauer; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends, who will miss his gentle spirit and warm heart.
