Georgetown Pack 95 summer activities continue July 21
Georgetown Pack 95 summer activities will continue with a family campout Friday to Sunday, July 21 to 23, at Cape Henlopen State Park. In addition to the raingutter regatta competition, plans include climbing the observation tower, enjoying time at the beach, visiting the nature center and building a campfire followed by lots of singing.
A family fun day is set for 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 27, at Cape Henlopen State Park. Attendees will ride bikes, play basketball, enjoy the playground and share a picnic.
Previous events this year included the Blue and Gold program when the fifth-graders cross over into Boy Scout Troop 95. Scouts received earned adventure loops, trophies from the Pinewood Derby were presented and a special recognition went to Markus Mihalics.
At the March pack meeting the pack revived its space derby. Lots of teamwork went into building a new track, locating parts and much more. Everyone watched 25 rockets fly down the track. Winners of the 2023 space derby are: first place, Brody Backman, Wolf Scout; second place, Tanner Serman, Lion Scout; and third place, Colin Ezell, Tiger Scout.
The April pack meeting was busy with presenting adventure loops and advancements, along with lots of singing and fellowship.
Special guest at the May pack meeting was Ben Ables, Troop 95 scoutmaster. An avid cyclist, Ables spoke about bike safety.
In June, the pack toured the Lightship Overfalls in Lewes, then went to the state park to tour Battery 519 at Fort Miles and enjoy a picnic at the pavilion.
