The Village Improvement Association will launch its new Spunky Women of Rehoboth Tours at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 20. The outings will highlight those forward-thinking women from 1909 to present day who founded the Rehoboth Art League and the Rehoboth Beach Public Library, contributed to beach safety and healthcare offerings, and so much more. They were businesswomen, entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, suffragettes and philanthropists.
Each tour starts at the VIA Clubhouse at 415 N. Boardwalk on Grenoble Place, and participants are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water for this stroll through town. VIA guides will share stories and photos along the way, and the tour will end at the Anna Hazzard Museum on Christian Street.
Tickets cost $10. Registration and payment will be through the Rehoboth Beach Museum website, rehobothbeachmuseum.org, where a virtual “Women of Rehoboth Beach” tour will also be available.
The Village Improvement Association is a unique women’s civic and charitable organization located in Rehoboth Beach. Since its founding in 1909, VIA members have been harnessing their collective powers to make enduring contributions to the town of Rehoboth Beach and the surrounding Cape Henlopen School District communities.
