Girl Scout Daisy Troop 560 hikes earn Delaware Greenways patch

September 3, 2015

Members of Girl Scout Daisy Troop 560 recently earned the Delaware Greenways patch by hiking part of the Cape Henlopen State Park Junction and Breakwater Trail. The young nature enthusiasts took full advantage of this Greenways trail that follows a section of the former Penn Central railroad between Lewes and Rehoboth Aug. 22.

In addition to performing a service project by clearing trash along the trail, the girls passed through the hardwood and conifer forests and wrote down observations made using their senses of sight, hearing and smell, as well as using the interpretive signs along the trail that provide opportunities to learn about plant and animal life.

Shown at the end of their hike  are (l-r) Daisies Izabel Kelly-Conaway, Ariel King, Sarah Fernandez, Ava Cox and Lexi Cugni, and little brothers Jameson King and Brayden Cox.
