Girl Scout Service Unit 30 honors local volunteers
Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Service Unit 30, serving girls and adults in the communities of Milton, Rehoboth, Lewes and Georgetown, honored outstanding volunteers at its annual recognition luncheon held June 11 at the University of Delaware Virden Center.
Leaders, troop cookie managers and other operational volunteers were recognized not only for their years of service but also for outstanding and exceptional service to the girls and the organization. Volunteers receiving Green Angel Awards for creative, outstanding service to a troop were Jennifer Stocker, Lauren Fritz-Mariner, Lisa Lingo, and Dr. Kim Gallagher.
Rebecca Lowe received an Outstanding Leader Award for her leadership of Troop 1482 for the last six years. Years of Service Awards were presented for 5, 10 and 30 years of service.
Receiving five-year awards were Lynette Klopp, Nancy Alexander, Amber Spacarelli, and Sandy Davidson. Ten-year awards were given to Karen Radcliffe, Karliss Van Auken and Deni Matz. Marlene Matthews received her 30-year pin for service to the organization.
The service unit also presented Outstanding Volunteer Awards for service performed that benefited the whole service unit and went beyond the expectations for the position held.
Awards were presented to Marlene Matthews, service unit registrar; Anna Moshier, service unit outdoor program consultant and family partnership manager; Sandy Davidson, service unit cookie cupboard manager, Lynette Klopp, service unit organizer; Karliss Van Auken, service unit auditor; Amber Spaccarelli, Troop 499; Julie Hudecheck, Troop 1482's cookie manager for the past six years; and Dr. Nancy Gideon, Troop 1485's and Troop 65's cookie manager.
