Girl Scouts to host outdoor activities and information event Sept. 26

September 12, 2021

The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay, Service Unit 614, will host a fun afternoon outdoors from 12 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26, at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel.

Girls and adults interested in learning about membership and volunteering are encouraged to attend.

There will be a potluck picnic with grilled chicken donated by Mountaire Farms, games and prizes, and a scavenger hunt.

Current Girl Scouts will compete in a rope runner derby and a service unit awards ceremony for scout achievements and exceptional leadership.

Volunteer leaders spare a few hours each month to share a passion for the outdoors and activities comprising STEM, STEAM, crafting and/or entrepreneurial skills.

Girl Scouts are go-getters, innovators, risk-takers and leaders, and the organization is always looking for more members to join in the fun, skill-building and adventures.

Attendees will see the diversity of scouts and troops. Every troop is different based on the leaders’ and girls’ interests and skill sets. There are troops that go on adventures, love giving back to their communities, enjoy crafting and songs, and troops that do it all.

Girl Scout leaders will be on hand to discuss how to become a troop leader or sign up girls for scouting adventures.

The entry fee to Trap Pond State Park is $4 per in-state vehicle. There is no cost for the event, but attendees may feel free to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
