February 24, 2023

George, Miles & Buhr LLC recently announced the promotion of Benjamin K. Hearn, PE, to associate of the firm.

Hearn began interning with GMB’s Seaford office in 2014 and joined the full-time staff upon his 2016 graduation from the University of Delaware with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. Hearn was heavily involved as the design engineer on the Gills Neck Road Wastewater Flow Diversion project, which won the 2019 Engineering Excellence Grand Conceptor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies Delaware.

As a project manager in the Seaford and Lewes offices, his primary focus is on municipal engineering, with experience in projects such as asset management, inflow and infiltration analysis, wastewater collection and transmission facilities, water main distribution systems, street improvements and site development. His main clients include the cities of Lewes and Seaford, and he has also served public and private clients throughout Sussex County and in parts of Maryland.

Hearn recently managed the design and construction administration of Phase 1 of the Western Sussex Business Campus in Seaford, with Phase 2 design underway. He is currently leading design efforts for a new elevated water storage tank and a large water modeling effort for a new canal water crossing, both in Lewes.

Actively involved in his hometown community, Hearn has served in the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department since 2011 as a volunteer firefighter who responds to any emergency situation in its coverage area, using his extensive training to best remedy the problem at hand. Hearn served as SVFD vice president from January 2017 to May 2020.
