Golf writer Fritz Schranck pens cocktail recipe book

‘Quarantinis’ gives tips for home bartending during COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has been hugely disruptive to daily life – but that didn't mean the fun was over, according to Fritz Schranck in his new eBook, “Quarantinis: Easy and Fun Cocktails for When You’re Stuck at Home.”

When pandemic restrictions shut down restaurant dining and entertainment options in the Cape Region, Schranck began making cocktails at home. As Official Taster, his wife Susan rates them in what has become a continuing series on his Facebook page.

His readers' responses were surprising, with dozens of likes, comments, questions and suggestions. Schranck said, “We struck a nerve.”

“Quarantinis” includes more than 65 cocktail recipes from Schranck’s series, complete with color photos. All of these drinks can be easily made using an affordable liquor collection. The book also includes recipes for bitters and syrups that can be made at home, as well as handy guidance about fruits, garnishes, flavoring agents, ice options and glassware.

The book is now on sale for $3.99 through Amazon’s Kindle Store at amazon.com, and is also available as a gift or purchase for a team or group.

Schranck writes the weekly Cape Gazette golf column, a popular feature of the newspaper since 1999. His first book, “Hole By Hole: Golf Stories from Delaware’s Cape Region and Beyond” is an award-winning collection of some of the best pieces to appear in his column. He lives near Rehoboth Beach with his wife Susan.

A former deputy attorney general, Schranck retired from the Delaware Department of Justice in 2015 after more than 27 years representing the Department of Transportation.
