Gregory and JoAnn Economos celebrate 40th anniversary Aug. 25

August 21, 2019

Little did Gregory Economos know that the girl he admired riding her bicycle to the beach from his parents’ diner window would become his wife of 40 years and the woman he’d share countless experiences with along the way.

A lot has changed since Greg and JoAnn (Kirker) wed, surrounded by family and friends, at the original Epworth United Methodist Church on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. They started a family and had six daughters, built a dream home of their own in Georgetown, and traveled the world together to see their ancestral roots.

And while they’ve grown and moved, so much has stayed the same. Greg has proudly been employed by Union 2011 district council 21 for more than 30 years, and JoAnn has served her community at the wellness center at Cape Henlopen High School as a family nurse practitioner and center coordinator. Most importantly, the two have been the constant axis of a loving family they pour their heart and soul into, now with nine grandchildren and three more on the way.

Greg and JoAnn continue their experiences together as they devote time to their growing family. Whether it’s gardening together, seeking out new antiques to sell in their shop or enjoying a quiet evening in, the gaze they give to each other’s eyes is as loving as it was Aug. 25, 1979.
