Gregory Michael Carter, state retiree
Gregory Michael Carter, 54, of Rehoboth Beach, died Friday, July 11, 2025. He was born Sept. 5, 1970, in Wilmington, son of Albert Francis Carter Jr. of Rehoboth Beach and the late Margaret Elizabeth (Richardson) Carter.
Greg graduated from Hodgson Vo-Tech High School and worked for the State of Delaware as an agency aide, retiring after 18 years of service.
Greg left us too early, but unlike his mother, Greg was always dependable for an early arrival. Together with his parents, Peg and Skip, Greg comprised one-third of the original Three Amigos trio as the three of them always lived together and were never far apart.
Despite lifelong health challenges and some unfair obstacles, Greg never once complained. He tackled each day with resilience and a quiet strength. He may not have looked the part, but he was tough as they come.
The house is quiet now. Gone are the multiple TVs loudly playing old reruns on MeTV or his favorite game shows, as he made his way from room to room on a well-oiled daily routine. An avid walker, Greg was a friendly presence on his daily walks around the Kinsale Glen neighborhood and pool. He also enjoyed his time at Kings Creek Country Club, talking with everyone in earshot.
A special thanks and note of appreciation to all those close family and friends who embraced his kindness, respect, and inclusion. Your generosity of time and attention meant the world to Greg.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Carter. He’s survived by his father, Albert F. Carter Jr.; brother, Albert F. Carter III (Scarlette Hobbs); nieces and nephews: Kyle Carter, Meghan Carter (Chris Donges with niece Logan and nephew Landon), Conor Carter, and their mother Elizabeth Carter; uncle, Garry Carter (Suzanne Carter); aunt, Donna Lewis; and cousin, Doug Deveney.
Services will be private.
In Greg’s memory, contributions can be made to The Opportunity Center Inc., 13 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.
