Gregory A. Thompson II, had passion for law

Gregory A. Thompson II, 84, of Millsboro, passed Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, after a valiant battle.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Christine; daughters Laura Thompson, Anne (Porto, Joe), Margaret Thompson, Christine (Simmons, John) and Yvonne Kaufman (Michael); sons Gregory Thompson III (Heather) and James Peacock (Trisha); 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Feider and Elsa Hoffmeister and cat Mishy. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Robert Peacock.

Greg was born in Minneapolis, Minn., Dec. 4, 1936. After graduating from De LaSalle High School, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served in the ANGLICO unit during peace time, achieving the rank of corporal. Following his service to country, he attended the University of Minnesota earning a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. He began work in the aerospace industry and pursued graduate studies in mathematics at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. While at Honeywell, he was one of the programmers who enabled the lunar module to land on the moon. He began night school, eventually earning a J.D. in Law from the University of San Diego while working full time and supporting his family. Law became the great passion in his life, and he continued to work until the time of his death. 

Greg and Christine lived overseas in Saudi Arabia for many years and traveled the world together, highlighted by trips to Belgium, France, Germany and Greece. He thoroughly enjoyed his wife’s gourmet cooking with a good glass of wine, and the beautiful homes she made for them. 

At the end of his life, through the intercession of St. Michael, Greg took great solace in prayer and his union with Christ.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current restrictions, services will be held at a later date.
