Grocery Outlet opens in Rehoboth Mall

Store features name brands at reduced prices, is first one to open in Delaware

Grocery Outlet, 18910 Rehoboth Mall Ave., opened its first Delaware store April 4 in a renovated section of the mall.

A large crowd, filling the parking lot, attended the grand opening.

Founded in 1946, Grocery Outlet, which bills itself as an extreme-value grocery retailer, is based in Emeryville, Calif., and offers customers big savings on brand-name products.

Including the new Rehoboth Beach store, the company has more than 450 locations throughout California, Idaho, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Washington. Stores are owned by independent operators based in the communities they serve. 

Grocery Outlet offers a full range of products including fresh produce, meat, deli and dairy, along with a wide assortment of natural and organic choices. Grocery Outlet also carries a large selection of health and beauty care, and seasonal items. The independent owner-operator is Bridgette Jarrett. All of the company’s store are independently owned under license from Grocery Outlet.

Jarrett made a donation of $1,000 to Southern Delaware YoungLife, a Christian-based organization for middle school, high school and college students. Volunteers and staff build up members through relationships with caring adults who offer hope and purpose along with fun and adventure, including camping trips.

During the grand opening, the first 100 customers received a Grocery Outlet Bliss Buck gift card in mystery amounts ranging from $5 to $500. In addition, all shoppers received a free limited-edition reusable bag. Customers also played the Wheel of Bargains Spin & Win for a chance to win a prize.
