Grotto Pizza unveils new menu to bridge the season

Options include full-flavored fare and refreshing cocktails

As winter slides closer to spring, cravings swing between hearty options and foods that salute warmer weather. Grotto Pizza has both.

New specials include the Bacon Mac Pizza, a platform for the ultimate comfort food – creamy macaroni and cheese with salty, crisp bacon.

Also new is the Spicy Pig & Pepper Pizza, a thick crust topped with Italian sausage, tangy banana peppers and homemade chunky tomato sauce. A sprinkle of crushed red pepper gives the pie an extra kick.

Several dishes from the last round of specials have staying power.

“Guests love our mac-and-cheese so much that we kept it on the menu,” said Jeff Gosnear, vice president of Grotto Pizza, founded in 1960 in downtown Rehoboth Beach. “They can order the traditional or with chicken and broccoli. Mac-and-cheese with cheesesteak fixings – including ribeye and sauteed onions – has been a big hit.”

Grotto is also keeping the Grotto-Boli on the special menu.

As for beverages, the bar is serving up selections with a hint of summer, such as Patron Mango Margarita, Spiked Punch with Bacardi Lime Rum, Kentucky Sunshine with Maker’s Mark, and Waterlemon Sour Soda.

Beer lovers can sip a crisp, citrusy Guinness Baltimore Blond, an American-style lager.
