The Harry K Foundation Eighth Annual Christmas Gala will be a virtual event starting at 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11.
Participants will enjoy a fun-filled livestreamed evening with an exquisite dinner by SoDel Concepts picked up curbside from their choice of Bluecoast Rehoboth, Fish On in Lewes or Northeast Seafood Kitchen in Bethany.
The event also will feature a silent auction, live auction and raffle. For tickets, go to HarryKFoundation.org.
The foundation relies on the proceeds from the gala to fund food pantries and backpacks for the coming year.
For the past seven years, the foundation has provided necessary nutritional supplementation to thousands of at-risk children in Delaware, notably through its continually replenished food pantries throughout the state.
The emergence of COVID-19 profoundly tested the foundation’s ability to ensure that every child’s need is met, but this challenge has not deterred team members. As needs expanded, so have their efforts. The foundation is currently feeding a record number of Delaware children and their families. This year the foundation has incorporated additional avenues of assistance, like direct deliveries of food to families around the area. As schools reopen, the children who count on foundation’s support need to find school pantries stocked and ready for them.
The goal at the Harry K Foundation is and has always been to serve the community in the best way possible. Since the COVID-19 crisis, the team has switched efforts from timed systematic procedures and protocols to more emergency and relief efforts, with collaboration and coordination among many different partnering organizations.
Despite the new territory the world has entered, the need the foundation addresses has increased exponentially, and so will the team’s sincere commitment to ending food insecurity for good.
