Perry Higgs has filed to run for a seat on Milton Town Council in the upcoming municipal election in March.
He and his wife, Kathleen, have been Milton residents for more than five years. Higgs is running on a platform of preserving Milton’s charm and planning Milton’s future.
“Milton is growing quickly, and that makes thoughtful planning more important than ever,” Higgs said. “My goal is to protect the town’s character and traditions while making sure we plan responsibly for growth, infrastructure and long-term financial stability.”
Higgs serves on the town’s finance committee and streets & sidewalks committee, and previously served on the affordable housing committee. He also served as HOA treasurer at Wagamons West Shores during the transition from developer control to homeowner governance.
In addition, Higgs helped organize concerned residents to bring state attention to invasive weed growth in Wagamons Pond, one of Milton’s jewels for fishing and recreation. He also volunteers with The Nature Conservancy.
Professionally, Higgs spent several decades working for a major global energy company, where he gained experience in disciplined financial management, including budgeting and long-range planning. He holds an undergraduate degree in honors mathematics, an MBA and a certificate in certified financial planning.
Higgs said residents may recognize him from around town, where he is often seen walking with his dog, Wilson.
“I enjoy being out in the community and talking with neighbors about what they value and what concerns them,” he said. “That kind of everyday interaction matters in a small town like Milton.”
Higgs said his priorities include responsible growth, safe and walkable streets, protection of natural and historic assets, and clear, transparent budgeting.
Milton’s municipal election will be held Saturday, March 7. Two council seats are up for election, with winners serving three-year terms.
