Highmark names 2022 Affordable Care Act products in Delaware

November 16, 2021

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware announced its Affordable Care Act health insurance products for the upcoming year, offering individuals and families an array of high-quality, affordable coverage options.

As of Nov. 1, Highmark is offering new products, lower select premiums and copays, and innovative new benefits, furthering its commitment to providing high-quality, affordable healthcare to individuals and families in Delaware.

Highmark will remain the only company offering individual and family plans on Healthcare.gov to residents of Delaware.

“Our goal is to offer the best health insurance products in the region at prices that all of our members can afford,” said Alexis Miller, president of federal markets for Highmark. “And new enhancements to the ACA have made plans more affordable for even more consumers by reducing or eliminating premiums and lowering out-of-pocket costs.”

Thanks in part to the American Rescue Plan, about three in four Highmark ACA members qualify for tax credits to make their coverage more affordable, and about one in four members is enrolled in a plan with a $0 monthly premium.

Highmark’s options for 2022 were designed with consumers in mind and make it easy for them to find the right coverage for their needs and budget. Consumers will be able to shop a range of affordable Highmark options that provide easy access to top doctors in the region.

Delaware consumers will be able to select from a range of broad-network Preferred Provider Organization plans from Highmark that provide in-network access to all acute care hospitals in the state, as well as in-network coverage for services received from more than 95 percent of doctors and hospitals around the country through the BlueCard program. This includes access to contracted Blues providers in nearby states such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland.

To give consumers flexibility and convenient access to care, all of Highmark’s individual and family products also cover virtual visits. And, in response to positive feedback, Highmark has expanded the number of ACA plans that include bundled adult dental and vision coverage in addition to medical and pharmacy coverage. Highmark will also continue to make available high-deductible health plans that can be joined with a tax-advantaged Health Savings Account.

“We’re excited to offer such a broad network of trusted doctors and hospitals to our ACA customers,” said Ellen Galardy, senior vice president of consumer markets. “Combined with the best-in-class service that Highmark is known for, we expect to see a lot more people looking to trade up to better coverage this year.”

Highmark offers plans at the gold, silver, and bronze levels within its My Blue Access PPO product, along with catastrophic plans for consumers under age 30.

No matter which Highmark plan a consumer chooses, they’ll have the peace of mind and freedom to choose the in-network doctor or specialist they want to see, with no referrals necessary, plus access to Highmark’s top-rated customer service representatives and care management programs.

“We listen to our customers, and they say they want quality, affordable health insurance without referrals or red tape. We’re covering almost 10,000 more ACA members than we did just two years ago, which tells us we’re delivering what ACA consumers are looking for,” says Nick Moriello, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware president.

While the open enrollment period runs through Saturday, Jan. 15,  consumers must enroll by Wednesday, Dec. 15,  for coverage that starts Saturday, Jan. 1. For more information, go to discoverhighmark.com or call 888-970-8182.
