Historian to portray Rehoboth Beach founder May 15
May 9, 2025
Local historian Roger Truitt will portray the Rev. Robert Todd, who founded Rehoboth Beach in 1873, in a program at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 15, at the Rehoboth Beach Museum, 511 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
Truitt is the author of “Room Enough,” a historical novel telling the story of Rehoboth’s early days as a camp meeting revival venue that transformed into a popular and more secular resort when the railroad came to town.
Using historical photographs and his extensive research, Truitt will transport attendees back to the 1870s to describe life in Rehoboth Beach during that era. He is a Rehoboth Beach native and presently serves as president of the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society.
