Historic Lewes to host festive sing-along Dec. 20

To mark the final public event of the year, Sussex Tavern will welcome the community for a festive carol sing-along, warm drinks and good cheer from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Historic Lewes campus.

The Sussex Shanty Singers will lead guests in seasonal songs from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, with lyrics provided for all. In a nod to tradition (and popular demand), the group promises to refrain from singing “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” and “Dominick the Donkey.”


Guests can enjoy history-inspired winter beverages as they join voices with fellow revelers and celebrate the close of 2025 inside one of Lewes’s most atmospheric winter settings.


While this event caps the tavern’s 2025 programming, the Sussex Tavern will remain open throughout the winter, with open hours Thursday to Saturday, Jan. 8 to March 26.

The Historic Lewes campus will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
