Hooked On Plants to host grand reopening May 7

May 2, 2022

A staple in the local community since 2007, Hooked On Plants has long been known as the go-to place for all gardening needs.

In its new location in Georgetown, Hooked On Plants has expanded to a four-acre garden center under the direction of local entrepreneur Jay Huss.

To celebrate the grand opening, the public is invited to join the Hooked On Plants team from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 7. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m while supplies last, free hamburgers and hotdogs will be given to anyone who makes a purchase.

Working with Joe and Kathy Cherico and their son Joey, Huss has developed the site into a nursery that houses shrubs, annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs and various soils. Trees will be added in the near future, as will pottery.

“We’re excited to work with the Cherico family on the expansion of Hooked On Plants, and we look forward to serving our community through this garden center,” said Huss. “We hope to see a lot of old and new faces May 7.”

Hooked On Plants Garden Center is located at 25141 Lewes-Georgetown Highway near Georgetown, about a mile west of the Harbeson intersection at Route 5. Normal business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.
