I’m writing in support of the Daisey family’s decision to demolish their family home to build a family home with a modern structure consistent with Lewes' architectural standards. The Daiseys are a wonderful family! I recently met many of them at a cultural event at the Cinema Art Theater. Several Daiseys were featured in a beautifully made, informative film produced by the Lewes Historical Society about the history of Lewes. They are one of Sussex County's oldest Black families, with documented roots back to 1773.
I’m hopeful that the Lewes Historic Preservation Architectural Review Commission will vote to preserve the Daiseys’ 13th and 14th constitutional rights to life, liberty and property.
