I'll take it

December 10, 2021

This past Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the hapless New York Jets by the score of 33-18. It was nice to have solid win for once. For most of the week before the game, I thought that Jalen Hurts would be the starting quarterback, but the Eagles decided to let him rest his injured ankle, and had Gardner Minshew step in. This is a bye week, so it gives Hurts two full weeks for recovery and to be ready before the next game against the Washington Football Team. Gardner played very well in the game going 20-for-25 for multiple touchdowns. It certainly sounds like Gardner stepped up to the task. Apparently, the Jets defense was pretty terrible, but I wouldn't know first hand because I did not get to watch the game. I was only able to catch the highlights on other channels. That's an issue for another time.

I don’t do this very often, but I will be cheering for the Dallas Cowboys to win the game this week against the Washington Football Team. I am only doing this because, if the Cowboys win, it helps the Eagles’ vague chance of playoff possibilities. Got to do whatever it takes.

Since the Eagles won this game with Minshew stepping up as quarterback, there are some people that want to create a quarterback controversy to have him remain as starting quarterback. Gardner started for the Jacksonville Jaguars for two or three years, but his record was not that great. He would have one great game and then a string of bad ones. I don't think it is worth testing that at this point in the season. Let's let Jalen Hurts do what he's supposed to do.

The college football playoffs will be set up as predicted. The only small difference is that Alabama beat Georgia which elevated Alabama to the No. 1 seed instead of Georgia. This means Alabama will play Cincinnati in one semifinal and Michigan will play Georgia in the other one. I hope that Cincinnati can keep it close against Alabama to show that Cincinnati should be in the playoff. These games will be played on New Year’s Eve.

Next week, Tiger Woods will be playing in the PNC Championship Tournament in Orlando. This is an exhibition tournament that is done at the close of every year with a scramble format and is a fun tournament to watch. Tiger's appearance for this event will be his first effort to play since recovering from the car accident. The players include a whole bunch of other professional golfers and their children, and the fact that they use golf carts is one of the biggest factors for Tiger to be at this event. He will be playing with his son Charlie. Justin Thomas and his father Mike Thomas will be defending the championship from last year’s event. I thoroughly enjoy this tournament.

Have a good weekend.
