The Insight Meditation Community of Lewes welcomes returning meditation teacher Larissa Kitenko for an evening dharma talk and daylong meditation retreat.

Both beginning and experienced meditators are invited to attend this weekend of learning to live effectively in the present moment. The public is welcome.

A dharma talk of Buddhist teachings titled The Paramis, or Ten Noble Character Qualities, will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, March 6, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall.

A full-day retreat with the theme of Cultivating the Quality (Parami) of Patience will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 7, at the parish hall. It will include guided meditation periods, silent sitting and walking meditation, and a dharma talk with time for questions.

She has completed the Community Dharma Leader-4 Program and the Dedicated Practitioner Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California, and is a teacher at IMC-Washington, D.C., led by Tara Brach, PhD. She has trained with Jon Kabat-Zinn and has been teaching mindfulness-based stress reduction since 2005. She is certified as an associate clinical chaplain at Shore Health System in Easton, Md.
