Introductory Tai Chi Short Yang Form class begins Jan. 31 at UUSD

January 15, 2015

A Tai Chi Short Yang Form introductory class and registration will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware, 33739 Marsh Road, Lewes.

The first regular session of classes will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 7; classes will run through the end of March and cover the first half of the form. A second session will be held April through May and cover the second set of postures. A donation of $5 per session per person is suggested.

Deb Davies, certified Tai Chi instructor with the Tai Chi Foundation, will teach the Short Yang Form as taught by professor Cheng Man Ch’ing. The Tai Chi Short Yang Form is a succession of 32 postures with each posture leading to the next, and therefore this is a progressive class.

Tai Chi has been found to lower blood pressure, improve balance, and support overall well-being. Davies has been a student since 1991 and teaching since 1993. She also teaches meditation and is a licensed massage therapist.

For more information or to register, contact Davies at 302-396-0433. Proceeds will support the mission of the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware to nurture spiritual growth, embrace diversity, work for justice, and strive for a loving world.
