Jean Elizabeth (Berner) Mitchell, owned Feather Dusters

Mrs. Jean Elizabeth (Berner) Mitchell, 60, of Millsboro passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018. 

Jean was born in Wilmington to the late Robert Joseph Berner Sr. and Mary Joyce Weikel Berner. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Shane Mitchell, who passed in 2010.

She was a caretaker for the Wilmington Mounted Police Horses before moving to Millsboro, where she has lived for approximately 37 years. Jean was the owner/operator of Feather Dusters Inc. Jean was a member of American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro. She was a feisty woman who loved spending time with her family, going to the beach, watching her grandchildren play sports, horses, traveling (especially Caribbean cruises), taking family trips to Chincoteague, and was an avid Redskins fan. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two daughters, Sara Tibbett (Shannon Wright) of Millsboro and Pebbles Hall, also of Millsboro; a stepdaughter Kimberly Anderson (Brent) of Downingtown, Pa.; one brother, Robert Berner (Melissa) of Georgetown; and five sisters, Helen Whitley (Ralph) of Millsboro, Brenda Presley (Rick) of New Castle, Diane Coverdale (Jim) of Ellendale, Barbara Wacome (Bob) of Westford, Mass., and Teresa Berner of Millsboro. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Kaiya "Puddin" Hall, Gabriel Shane Brown, Kade "Fred" Hall, Ariyanna Townsend, Mitch Anderson and Camryn Anderson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 20, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., for viewing and visitation. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Hwy No.101, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, or Post 24 American Legion, PO Box 248, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
