Jim Martin works for the vulnerable

February 13, 2024

Gagging someone by attempting to keep that person from speaking is morally wrong. This is why I encouraged Jim Martin to take a step in what I feel is truly the right direction. He is not stepping down as director of Shepherd’s Office, and with your help, he will continue with the work of helping those vulnerable in our community. He has, with the support of our community, done that for many years. The election he is looking at is a few years away.

Some of you may be aware that Jim announced he is throwing his hat in the ring for Sussex County Register of Wills. He and I believe that it is now being held by a man who is not taking his oath to serve seriously. We think he has reached a level of incompetence.

Jim's potential opponent, Greg Fuller, has more jobs than he can handle, apparently. We both have come to the conclusion that this fellow is bound and determined to rule the Home of the Brave with an iron fist. Since it will take at least a year to do a complete investigation of the allegations, he may continue essentially as a dictator there. We hope not. However, there have to be more veterans who are willing to jeopardize their potential housing ventures and blow their whistle hard and loud. We have no control over that.

Jim is going to challenge him in an area where Greg just might not be able to get his way. I am with Jim in this and hope you will be too. I am attempting to tell you why.

The story about how Greg has taken the Home of the Brave and made it the Home of the Afraid is one I am not going to stop bringing attention to. No one, I do not care who you are, has the moral right to take advantage of others because that person considers themselves more powerful. Greg, as a Christian man, knows that, but he is refusing to stop. I have my suspicions that he is walking around in what he calls Republican clothing but does not value the country's Constitution that the brave men and women whom he is supposed to be serving have fought for. Greg is a veteran, but he may have forgotten his oath. I cannot know what is in his heart or mind, but his actions have not shown a commitment to be a servant leader, and it looks like he needs a lesson about how to treat others as he himself would want to be treated. Sometimes, even brothers and sisters in the faith learn their lessons the hard way.

Jim is a helper and someone who does not like to see others hurt. He is essentially exposing the wounds so antiseptic can be applied. Shepherd's Office has assisted veterans and worked well with the Home of the Brave before Greg Fuller decided to go on what seems to be a tyrant's rage, and we may not be able to stop him there, but we can give him a good fight at the ballot box, and Jim intends to.
